Job Purpose

Junior systems administrator is responsible for handling day-to-day information technology operations. They are in charge of assisting system administrators in support tasks for hardware devices and software packages, help with common troubleshooting, and triage security alerts.

Duties and responsibilities


  • Identify security and malware threats from company systems as well as trace network failures and research possible solutions.
  • Monitors systems to ensure they have the latest updates and security patches; works with more experienced team members to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist systems team when deploying new software, upgrades and applying appropriate patches to vulnerable systems.
  • Complete regular backups and perform data recovery, assist in workstation life cycle rotations, monitor servers, work with other administrators to minimize downtime, and prevent data corruption.
  • Provide remote support and escalate issues to supervisor as needed.

  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with Windows Server 2008/2012 installation, hardening, and administration
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DNS & DHCP
  • Proficiency with PowerShell, Batch, and CMD Prompt for the purposes of data import/export and automating administrative tasks
  • Experience with designing and automating User Account Management processes
  • Experience with System Logging, Auditing, & Automation of related Administrative tasks
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated equipment
  • Experience with server management in a global enterprise environment including formal Change Management and other controls such as regular patching and vulnerability management.
  • Experience provisioning new systems, secure configuration and ongoing maintenance including patching.
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup & Restore Processes
